I was reading an editorial the other day about how "liberals" were responsible for the moral decay. It got me to think about how liberals ending up with the bad wrap they have been given. What constitutes a liberal? For the most part the ideology surrounding most liberals is "live and let live". As a liberal my whole life, I have been married to the same man for almost 28 years, raised three children that are law abiding, good citizens, and I pay my taxes. I not only pay my taxes, I feel there is a direct relationship between the taxes we pay and the services we get. I realize there comes a time that taxes have to be paid to support infrastructures, as well as pay for schools and other necessary things. I think that is where the departure is.... I think most nonliberals think essential things like infrastructure and schools should be self-sustaining. But back to the moral decay .. who do you think were at the head of these corporations such as Enron that started us down this slippery slope? I would not hesitate to guess they are probably all conservatives. Not only that, but how many of these so call conservatives consider themselves Christians? Who is at the head of all these corporations such as AIG ( a company that my measly salary as a former teacher, which was unmatched was reduced by two thirds) that basically paid their CEOs millions, while our thousands of our dollars dwindled away? I would bet that they are the conservatives who consider themselves Christians whose moral terpitude led them to make such immoral decisions. What about our former commander in chief who led us into a "war" that killed nearly 5000 of our own solderies in comat, killed untold in noncombat related injuries, maimed and seriously injured many more and killed thousands of our enemies. Were the citizens and the military soldiers really our enemies? Were they a threat to us? Or was Sadaam Husein the only threat? If he was, why are we still there? Now our presence has leaked into Afghanistan where many more American soldiers are dying? Where is the morality in this story? Maybe I have more questions than I do answers.... but at least I am thinking (albeit out loud) and not allowing some pundit on the television to decide what my thoughts will be. What about you?
